Mosquito Spraying This Weekend

To control mosquitoes, the Health Department will apply larvicide by helicopter to marsh and other nonresidential areas of Staten Island, the Bronx and parts of Rockaway this week. The application is scheduled for Thursday, September 10; Friday, September 11; and Monday, September 14 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. In case of bad weather, application will be delayed until the next day during the same hours. The local areas to be treated are sections of Edgemere and Somerville, which include Dubos Point and Edgemere Park. These are marshy, natural areas, which are common breeding grounds for mosquitoes, bounded by Norton Basin to the east; Mott Point to the north; Grass Hassock Channel to the west; and Beach 65 Street, De Costa Avenue.
