FR Woman Hurt In CT Car Crash

By Nicholas Briano

A car crash in Norfolk, Connecticut Saturday sent a Far Rockaway woman and one other to the hospital with minor injuries, according to published reports.

The two-car collision occurred Sunday at the intersection of West Side Road and Greenwoods Road West, also known as Route 44, around 10:39 a.m. A nineteen year-old Norfolk resident, Michael Boyle, was driving west on Route 44 in a Chevy Aveo behind Far Rockaway native, Josephine Perkins, 51, of Beach 37 Street.

But when Perkins slowed on a lefthand curve, Boyle, who police say was tailgating and not alert at the time, caused the collision when his car rearended the Volkswagon driven by Perkins. The four passengers riding with Perkins at the time of the crash escaped with minor injuries. Boyle sustained a cut to his chin and refused medical treatment, but was fined for not wearing a seat belt at the time and for tailgating. Route 44 was temporarily closed after the accident when area emergency responders arrived on the scene.
