Rugby Is Back This Saturday At Fort Tilden

By Alan Shaw

After a long summer hiatus, Rockaway Rugby is back. This Saturday at 1 p.m. in Fort Tilden, the local Fisheads will take on Gotham. This is the Fisheads' first game of the season as they look to steamroll through the division.

Many studs are returning, such as Tim "Thank God Sevens Is Over" Kelly, Pat Brady, T. Tubbs, Kermit and Barry Cowhead.

After a practice last Tuesday, going over the game plan and getting back into "playing shape," the team looks ready for a great season. When asked if this might be the year, Rob Palmer said, "I feel something special about this group, I'm excited!"

After a disappointing season in the spring, all involved feel that this season everyone is comfortable and ready to turn the talent into wins.

If you're looking to get involved this Saturday, it is a great time to come out with your cleats and play some rugby. There will be a "B" side match with Scott Bloudstein, and this will give you a chance to get your feel of some rugby action.

So while you might be sitting around missing the college parties, come play with the Fisheads, for as the social director, Kris Callaghan, always says, "There's no lack of parties here."

Come out and support the Fisheads this season. Practices will be held every Thursday at 7 p.m. at Fort Tilden. Everyone and anyone is welcome.
