Emanuel "Billy" Thomas, 66, a longtime Rockaway resident, died August 22.
Thomas was born on June 15, 1943 in Union, South Carolina but migrated to New York at an early age. He attended Lawrence High School and later served in the U.S. Armed Forces in 1961.
Thomas is preceded in death by Mary Ruth and Edward Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Kimbrough; stepson, James Kimbrough; sisters, Gladys Waters of Flint, Michigan, Marie Humphrey of Bayshore, New York, Brenda Moore of Wyandanch, New York, and Francine Thomas of North Carolina; brothers, Jaye and Jeffery Bookhart of Rochester, New York, Gerald Bookhart of Wyandanch, New York, Jerome Bookhart of Riverhead, New York, Butch Thomas of Queens, New York, Chubby and Wallace Thomas of North Carolina, and Tony and Irving Thomas of Far Rockaway; sister-in-law, Ann White of Queens, New York; brothersin law, Barry Moore and Ronald Humphrey of Wyandanch, New York, and Howard White of Queens, New York; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear and devoted friends and neighbors.
Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Disposition took place at St. Michael's Crematory, East Elmhurst, New York.
