St. John's Episcopal Hospital Host Ocean Walk
The Fourth Annual Ocean Walk was held on Tuesday, August 25 to benefit St. John's Episcopal Hospital. A crowd of more than 50 friends of St. John's including doctors, supporters and staff walked from the Hospital to the boardwalk and Beach 9 Street and back. Afterwards, dinner was served al fresco on picnic tables set up along Beach 19 Street. The walkers were accompanied by officers from the 101st Precinct.
"The Ocean Walk was a glorious day and we had a fabulous time," said Reva Oliner, Ocean Walk Chairperson. "I'm looking forward to next year's walk," she added.
Sponsored by St. John's Development Board, the walk raised more than $61,000 for renovation of the Hospital's obstetrics/gynecology and maternity units. SJEH has the only obstetrics/gynecology service on the Rockaway peninsula and offers a full range of services for women's health including midwifery, prenatal care and testing, comprehensive fetal monitoring, and gynecologic oncology.
The event was sponsored by: Bartlett, McDonough, Bastone and Monaghan, LLP; Margaret and Tim Carpenter; Hunter Ambulance, Inc.; Jzanus, Ltd.; and PeriGen, Ltd. Dinner was donated by Aramark. Tee-shirts were given to all Walk participants.
