TD 23 Headquarters Comes Down
     After nearly three years the city knocked down the temporary Transit District 23 headquarters inside the Waldbaum's parking lot on Beach Channel Drive and Beach 112 Street. The new headquarters, located in the subway station will open officially on September 15.

9/11 Ceremonies Set At Tribute Park

Local Artist Selected F or International Exhibit
      A painting by Rockaway native and watercolorist, Arlene Cornell has been accepted for The Catherine Lorrilard Wolfe Art Club 113th Annual International Juried Art Exhibition. "The Iron Bridge" will be on display at the National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South in Manhattan from October 1 to October 23.

Kite And Fall Festivals To Be Held This Month
      The Rockaway Music and Arts Council's (RMAC) annual Fall Festival draws thousands of visitors, artists and craftspeople each year to Jacob Riis Park. This year, the RMAC will host its 25th Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, September 12 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

St. John's Episcopal Hospital Host Ocean Walk
      The Fourth Annual Ocean Walk was held on Tuesday, August 25 to benefit St. John's Episcopal Hospital. A crowd of more than 50 friends of St. John's including doctors, supporters and staff walked from the Hospital to the boardwalk and Beach 9 Street and back. Afterwards, dinner was served al fresco on picnic tables set up along Beach 19 Street.

RBNA Holds Annual Block Cleanup
      The Rockaway Beachside Neighborhood Association (RBNA) kicked off its annual block cleanup on Beach 25, 26, 27, and 28 Streets and Seagirt Avenue, with dozens of residents volunteering. The cleanup was part of the Association's efforts to help beautify the Rockaway Beach area.
