Armetra Victoria Herd
Armetra Victoria Herd, 58, a longtime Rockaway resident, died August 8.
Herd was born in East Meadow, New York on October 16, 1955 and worked as a NYPD administrative aide. She was a member of St. John's Baptist Church. In 1999, she was awarded certification in Theology at the Brooklyn Bible Institute and later, certification in Systematic Theology from the North American School of theology in 2008. Herd is preceded in death by her son, Keith Correll.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin and Kyle Correll and Kenny Muhamad; declared son, Hakim Sourzes; sister, Cheryle Ray of Aberdeen, North Carolina; brothers, Bradley Marsin of Pinehurst, North Carolina, Curtis Marsin of Boston, Massachusetts, Chuck Herd of State College, Pennsylvania, David Herd of Far Rockaway and Jerome Taylor of Aberdeen, North Carolina; declared sister, Diana Roberts of Brooklyn, New York and declared brother, Don Roberts of Brooklyn, New York; grandchildren, Zakeya Asia, Naajidah Aakifah, Kyle, Rashad and Sania Correll; sisters-in-law, Darcy Marsin, Deanna Taylor and Delsean Herd; brother-in-law, William Ray; nephews, Omar, Christopher, Jamez, Scotty and Blake; nieces, Ashley, Jennifer and Tashanna and a special friend, Dorothy Cummings.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. A memorial service was held at St. John's Baptist Church, Arverne. Interment took place at Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
