Eleanor Hassett, 81, a 50-year Rockaway resident died, August 21.
Hassett was born in Manhattan and worked as a teacher's assistant for the New York City Board of Education. She was a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher at St. Francis de Sales Church, member of Seabreeze Senior Group and Quilters and also marched with County Tyrone in the St. Patrick's Day parade. Hassett is preceded in death by her husband, William Hassett; mother, Helena Muldoon McCann; father, James McCann; brother, Joseph Mc- Cann and son-in-law, Robert Maidt.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Maidt, Eileen Cooke (Howard), William Hassett Jr., Brian Hassett (Patricia), James Hassett, Lorette Nagel (Timothy); grandchildren, Sean Cooke (Melissa), Kristin Maidt, Ryan and Matthew Hassett, Kaitlyn Ryan, Liam and Claire Nagel; brother, Thomas McCann and many friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A memorial service was held at St. Francis de Sales Church, Belle Harbor. Interment took place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, New York.
