Broad Channel Irish Festival

Dear Editor,

On a recent Saturday, I walked up to 116 Street. I went to the Fast Break Restaurant were the charming owner Mike made me a delicious Fast Break Salad. It was very hot outside so I decided to eat inside, and who should sit next to me but a lovely Irish man? During our conversation he told me about an Irish Festival in Broad Channel.

I went to the Festival and it was a great time. The Irish band was fabulous, and the step dancers were very talented. The music and dancing reminded me of my father, Barney McMahon, who won several dance contests on the Boardwalk years ago and encouraged me to learn music and dance.

It was a most wonderful experience at the Broad Channel Irish Festival; I was so proud to be Irish. The Rockaway peninsula, including Broad Channel, is an Island of Paradise.

My husband and I took our 2 sons, ages 7 and 2, to the festival this year. I don't know who had a better time, them or us! It was a great experience, and we will definitely attend next year.
