Care At Peninsula Hospital Center

Dear Editor,

Several weeks ago I was admitted to Peninsula Hospital with severe breathing problems. It was the first time I had been there since 1968, when I gave birth to my last child and the hospital was sparkling new and like a five star hotel. Since then I had seen the decline in care and services over the years, as I had my parents and husband there as patients, and I was apprehensive about being admitted, but luckily my fears turned out to be unfounded.

I arrived at the emergency room on July 6 at 5:00 a.m. I could not believe the speed and efficiency with which I was taken care of. By 1:00 p.m. I was in my room on the second floor feeling so much better. The medical staff was more than willing and able to take care of my every need, and they did it with such kindness. The room was very clean, and was mopped every day I was there.

I believe that this turn-around happened after Karen Barron became director of the floor. Keep up the great job, Karen! I hope the administration will continue to support her in her efforts. It is nice to know this community once again has a reliable Letters health center to depend on, because Rockaway is a great community.
