Brown's Hardware Ends R.L.L. Softball Season With Team Awards

2009 Rockaway Little League Brown's Hardware team 2009 Rockaway Little League Brown's Hardware team It was a so-so season for the gals of Brown's Hardware in the Rockaway Little League with three wins, five losses (including a playoff game), scrimmage, and three rainouts.

The team make up was quite a bit different from the past seven or eight years. A number of the girls had not played any ball before this season and a few hadn't played in the prior year or two. The team's 13 players were: Gabrielle Cohen, Meredith Connolly, Julia Falcone, Kimberly Keane, Madison LaLumia, Catherine Muldoon, Catherine Murphy, Moriah Ortiz, Kaelin Rivera, Kyla Tocopina, Sophia Zweifler, Stephanie Zwirn, and Alexis O' Connor.

Attendance was a major difficulty at certain times with an average of six girls for four practices, and 10 girls for the eight games and one scrimmage.

Coaches Bill Murphy and Jim Hurley would like to congratulate the girls and their parents, who truly gave it their all, and they strongly encourage any who didn't to try their best next season.

The following girls were awarded trophies: Gabby Cohen-All Star; Julia Falcone-All Star; Madison LaLaumia-sportsperson; Cat Murphy-MVP and All Star; Alexis O' Connor-All Star; Moriah Ortiz-Most Improved; Kaelin Rivera- All Star; Stephanie Zwirn-Outstanding Player.

The coaches wish good luck and much success to their high school bound girls Gabby, Catherine, Cat, Alexis and Kaelin. Thanks go to all the parents who helped out, most notably Dianna and Al Zwirn. They hope to see all the girls who are coming back next season.
