Par Tee Golf was begun in 1981 and a reunion was recently held as 22 former members returned for the reunion, including four original members - Nancy Garito, Catherine Hibbits, Edna Lynch and Lil Keim.
Co-presidents Sheila Schaberick and Alice Mateos welcomed the group and Vera Lynch introduced each lady and some told many funny stories. Hibbits remembered Mildred Duffy trying to teach her golf with a left handed club. However, she is right handed!
The organization actually began because the husbands all played and the ladies felt left out. Edna Lynch said none of them ever played golf and a couple of gentlemen taught them one day a week in the ball field. Such was the beginning of this wonderful organization. Vera Lynch was the contact person for the reunion and did a marvelous job of organization. Vera would like to express her thanks to Sheila and Alice for arranging the reunion - it was a loving and fun day!
Bea Sharrock and Pat Barry are the co-coordinators for the luncheon that will be held on September 10 at Russo's on the Bay. Everyone is invited especially past members. The price is $40 and the check payable to "Par Tee Golf." Remember to wear rubber sole shoes because the floor is slippery.
Doris Neimeth was thanked for the great effort she extends in keeping a record of the Par Tees through photographs. Her albums are a wonderful work of art!!
Lorraine Pierson and Patti Kelly will serve as co-captains for the 2010 season. Many thanks go to them for volunteering.
The Emily Basher Tournament will be held on two succeeding Thursdays, August 20 and 27. When teeing off, everyone must remember to use the mat or the installed tees. Brunch will be served after each game at the Catholic Club.
Subject: Heaven. The couple was 85 years old and had been married for sixty years. Though not young, they were both in very good health, largely due to the wife's insistence on healthy foods and exercise for the last decade. Then they both died. They reached the pearly gates, and St. Peter escorted them inside. He took them to a beautiful mansion, furnished in gold and fine silks, a fully stocked kitchen. They gasped in astonishment when he said, "Welcome to Heaven. This will be your home now."
There was a championship golf course, a beautiful clubhouse and lavish lunch was prepared. The old man looked around and glanced nervously at his wife. "Well, where are the low fat and low cholesterol foods?" That's the best part," St. Peter replied. "You can eat and drink as much as you like or whatever you like, and you will never get fat or sick. This is Heaven." The old man pushed, "No gym to work out at?" "Not unless you want to," was the answer. "No testing my sugar or blood pressure or…" "Never again. All you have to do here is enjoy yourself." The old man glared at his wife and said, "You and your bran muffins … we could have been here ten years ago!!"
God Bless. Have a great week!
