Youth from Rockaway Waterfront Alliance's Environmentor Summer program, recently worked on property located on Beach 48 Street to rid the area of debris and litter, collecting bags of rubbish and illegally dumped construction debris. The debris was later scheduled for pick-up by the Department of Sanitation, which has been a great help to the RWA during their conservation efforts.

The Environmentors have worked throughout the summer to eradicate issues plaguing the community, such as the high levels of dumping and the lack of access to the waterfront. They also engaged in discussions about the health of Rockaway's waterfront, hoping to protect the fragile dune ecosystem that serves as a major barrier to all of New York City.

Working together, the kids collected over 30 bags of assorted debris and trash. Working together, the kids collected over 30 bags of assorted debris and trash. Youth hauling trash from the dunes. Youth hauling trash from the dunes.
