Lydia Raye Bowman, 47, a longtime Rockaway resident, died June 24.

Bowman was born on October 7, 1962 in Hempstead, New York and worked in hospital police.

Bowman is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Sidney Bowman and Jessica Lenora Patterson.

She is survived by her son, Russell Hanson Tyson; brother, Mathew Lawrence Peterson; sister, Chiniqua Peterson; nephews, Tyrone Peterson, Rasean Peterson,Wytori Hackstoll and Daekuan Lawrence Peterson; nieces, Quiana Peterson and Lakiyaha Lashaun Peterson; in-laws, Mother Cook and family, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, close childhood friends, good friends, neighbors, co-workers.

Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Interment was at Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
