Traffic Lights On Newport Avenue

Dear Editor,

I am writing to request that stop signs be placed along the west end of Newport Avenue between Beach 116 Street and Beach 147 Street. Every road that carries east/west bound traffic either has traffic lights or stop signs to control speeding in our community. Newport has one traffic light on Beach 129 Street; Rockaway Beach Boulevard has five traffic signals; Beach Channel Drive has four signals; and Cronston has one traffic light and two stop signs over the same span as Newport Avenue. It only makes sense that when people Letters travel locally they will use Newport Avenue to get to where they need to go. Along with a high level of cars comes speeding, making Newport a dangerous road for our children. It doesn't make sense to me if Newport is the only road without any traffic signals to help control speeding. What are we waiting for?
