Man In Middle Of Gunfight Shot In Elbow

By Howard Schwach

A man riding on his motorcycle with his girlfriend hanging on tightly was shot in the left elbow when he found himself in between two thugs who were shooting it out, police say.

The unidentified duo was on the motorcycle on Redfern Avenue and Hassock Street at about 9:45 p.m. on July 13, when the rider heard shots.

Police sources say that he reported that he saw two men shooting at each other from opposite sides of the street, and that he felt a sharp pain, like a burning sensation, in his left elbow. He looked and saw that he had been shot.

The two men who were shooting at each other reportedly fled the scene.

The 31-year-old man was transported to St. John's Episcopal Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.

Police say that no arrests have been made and that the investigation is ongoing.

Detectives from the 101 Precinct Squad in Far Rockaway are investigating the shooting. Anybody with information is urged to call 718-868- 3429.
