Arverne Library Ends School Year With Talent Show

The Arverne Library held a talent show on June 26 for children ages 5 and up to celebrate the end of the school year and showcase local talent.

According to a spokesperson for the library, the talent show began to take shape at the beginning of the month and the kids worked hard to put on a great show.

More than 15 children participated, working with Arverne's Activity Assistant, Wanda Fyall, on a daily basis.

Fyall organized, prepared and encouraged the participants to perfect their talents. There was a heightened level of activity, as the date of the Talent show grew nearer.

The show drew more than 100 people; there was barely standing room in the library. The excitement was palpable as the participants performed their dances, stepping, songs and poetry flawlessly. There was a short skit with Ms. Louisa Storer, Arverne's Children's Librarian, and acrobatics performed by four daring "lions." Youth Counselor Fredine Freeman MC'd the show.
