P.S. 215Q Participates In Operation Paper Plate...Visits Soup Kitchen
Students participated in the citywide effort by the Coalition Against Hunger to collect 1,300 paper plates to represent the more than 1.3 million New Yorkers who don't have enough food for their families. The students decorated 1,300 plates with drawings, each plate representing 1,000 New Yorkers. The plates were displayed at an event to raise awareness about the hunger issue.
The Roundtable at P.S. 215Q in Far Rockaway ended the school year with a visit to its local soup kitchen.
During the school year, students raised funds, collected through the Common Cents "Penny Harvest." The United Methodist Center of Far Rockaway Soup Kitchen was one of the selections to which the students chose to donate their money. In addition, in May the Roundtable held a drive in school to collect toiletry items. They brought them and distributed them to the homeless and needy.
