Two 'Relay For Life' Teams Top Chart


Two of the top money-raising teams at the recent America Cancer Society Relay For Life were lauded this week for their work on behalf of the national organization. The largest contingent at the annual event belonged to the local Knights of Columbus, who joined with the Rockaway Jetty organization to top the chart in terms of buying the luminaria that honored both those who lost their lives to the disease and those who survived. Once again this year, the Victoria's Secret team, led by Vickie Backus, who heads the emergency room at St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, took the lead in support for the laps walked by the team members.
