Local Track And Field/Cross Country Practices

Running For Youngsters At FRHS And The Beach

Far Rockaway/FDA VI track coach Eric Stein will be conducting the Rockaway Summer Cross Country camp for youngsters entering junior high school up to those seniors who start high school in the fall.

Starting on Monday, July 6 and ending on August 14, youngsters throughout the Rockaways who are interested in training for long distance running, are invited to attend the three-day-a-week practices.

Practices will start at the boardwalk on Beach 29 Street and be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

There will be opportunities to race at other crosscountry locations such as Cunningham Park, Van Cortland Park in the Bronx and Sunken Meadow Park on Long Island.

Children will receive permission slips for their parents to sign during registration on July 6.

NOVAS AT FRHS: Every Tuesday and Thursday at Far Rockaway High School from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the NOVAS Track Club will help boys and girls from the ages of 7 to 17 who are interested in running, getting faster and having fun.

The NOVAS Track Club will be instructing those kids who are interested in participating in the sport of track and field.

If you are interested in having fun, winning awards, travel, get faster and possibly earn a scholarship, come out to Far Rockaway High and join.

Monthly dues are $10. Bring a sweatsuit or warmup suit to train with and have track sneakers. Also have a copy of your report card, birth certificate and photo. Please use the bathroom before arriving at FRHS. The facility inside the school cannot be accessed.
