Anthony J. Minei
Anthony J. Minei, a former Rockaway resident died June 25.
Minei was born in Rockaway Beach on March 12, 1918. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Following the war, he worked for the New York Telephone Company and later became a member of American Legion Post#272.
Minei is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve and brother, Vito.
He is survived by his sister, Francis Tibbetts of Peabody, Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Joseph and Margaret Sorrentino of Mount Vision, New York; children, Irene Shepard (Gary) of Coral Springs, Florida; Anne DeRosa (Joseph) of Boca Raton, Florida, Dr. Joseph Minei (Barbara) of McKinney, Texas and Anthony Minei, Jr. (Judy) of Winter Springs, Florida; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hungerford and Clark Inc. Funeral Home, Freeport, New York. A memorial service was held at Our Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, New York. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to: The Anthony J.
