SJEH Celebrates Residency Program Graduates

The Internal Medicine Program at St. John's Episcopal Hospital graduated 17 residents at a ceremony held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the Imperial Room in Inwood, NY. The graduates presented a clock to the Chairman of Internal Medicine, Sheldon Markowitz, MD.
St. John's Episcopal Hospital's residency programs recently held ceremonies for its graduating residents of internal medicine, osteopathic programs, and podiatry. The Internal Medicine program graduation ceremony honored 17 graduates and was held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the Imperial Room in Inwood, NY. The Osteopathic Programs held its ceremony on Thursday, June 18, 2009, for five graduates and for those being promoted to the next year of the residency program. The Osteopathic Programs include residency programs in the specialties of dermatology, family practice, general surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, ophthalmology, and osteopathic manipulative FITNESme di cine as we llasanosteop medicine internship program. The winners of the Osteopathic Program poster competition were also honored on June 16, 2009. The winners were: first place, Drs. Sourial Sourial, Matthew Suchy, and Jesse Rohde, Osteopathic Medicine Program  interns, for a poster entitled "Brain Lesions in AIDS Patients; second place, Dr. Maleka Rahman, Ophthalmology resident, for "Conjunctival Papilloma"; and third place winner Dr. Karen Alvarez, Ophthalmology resident, for "Secondary Glaucoma in Neurofibromatosis."

The Osteopathic Programs at St. John's Episcopal Hospital held a graduation ceremony for its graduates and residents who were promoted to the next year on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the Inwood Club, Inwood, New York.
l6/The Osteopathic Program trains more than 90 residents and interns a year. It is affiliated with the Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in California and is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association. The Internal Medicine program, which trains 57 residents annually, is an allopathic program affiliated with the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn.

The podiatry program is an independent residency program affiliated with the New York School of Podiatric Medicine.
