Relay For Life' Draws Crowds To Riis Park
More than 200 participants came to Riis Park last weekend for the annual "Relay For Life" sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The participants took part in ceremonies, played games and walked laps, all to fight the disease. Saturday evening began with cancer survivors walking a lap around the concrete track, evoking cheers from the onlookers. Then, each of the teams took a lap, accompanied by its team song. Event coordinators say that the weekend took in more than $40,000. Photos by Howard Schwach
