School Bus MVA Sends 4 To Hospital

By Howard Schwach

Four local children were transported to the Peninsula Hospital Center on Wednesday after the school bus in which they were riding collided with a car on the corner of Beach 20 Street and Seagirt Boulevard.

Police sources say that the children, all from a local nearby school, were taken to the hospital as a precaution, and that all were examined and released to family members.

The small school bus was hit at about 7:30 a.m. on June 24 as it was taking the children to school.

The driver of the bus and the matron were transported to St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway with minor injuries. Both were treated and released, police say.

The driver of the car refused medical attention and no summonses were issued.

The accident is under investigation.
