Rockaway Rugby To Play At Brooklyn Irish Festival Sunday
The Rockaway Sevens rugby tournament last weekend was a wet and enjoyable one.
Thanks to all who made it out in the rain to watch some great rugby action at Fort Tilden.
The Fisheads invite you to another great day of rugby this Sunday at the Aviator Sports Complex for the Brooklyn Irish fest.
It will be a peninsula battle between the Old Boys and Young Men. The game starts at 2:00 p.m. Live music will be presented after the game from the Wolfe Tones and Jameson's Revenge.
Several Fishead legends have come out of retirement to play including Oakie "Clothesline" O'Connor, Tom "Hello, Ladies" Mullen, Dave "Franken" Longeran and Mike "I'd Rather be Skiing" Geraghty. The Fisheads who won't retire ... including Tim "I'm still the best prop on the East Coast" Kelly, Andy "I'll teach those guys how to hit" Israel, Kermit "Can we play touch?" Egan and Grouch "Not a 7's player anymore" McCann.
Even the semi-young guys have committed including TJ "Oh Capt. My Captain" Mahoney, Brendan "My Girlfriend Won't Let Me" Fitzgerald, Kris "I'll postpone my operation, till later" Callaghan and Dan "weather permitting" Lunny.
It's guaranteed to cause some tension between the beach groups, but the day will once again be filled with great rugby action and enjoyable entertainment. The game will be played rain or shine.
The Fisheads appreciate your support and look forward to a great summer of rugby including a clinic in July. Always check rockawayrugby.com for information about upcoming events.
