James Stoval (L) from Victory Schools presents Marvin Griffin (R) with the Laurie Rene Brown Memorial Prize. Marvin Griffin, the Interim Acting Principal of Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School, located in the Arverne by the Sea development has won the 2009 Laurie Rene Brown Memorial Prize from Victory Schools. Victory Schools, an education management company, awards this prize to one outstanding teacher, principal or administrative professional whose efforts most embody Laurie Rene Brown's passion of educating children.

Griffin was nominated by his staff after he assumed the role of IA Principal in March, 2009. He earned the respect of the staff and students of PPA during his time as Assistant Principal. His outstanding commitment to the betterment of each and every child at PPA is evident on a daily basis by his constant praise and positive reinforcement.

"With his continued support along with the support of the PPA Board of Trustees, PPA seems to be on its way to becoming the best Charter School in the city," said a school spokesperson.
