On Sunday, July 19th I will do another showing of the power point slide presentation of "Into the Danger Zone - The First Transatlantic Flight - The Saga of the NC-4" at the Jacob Riis Park Bathhouse at 12:00 noon that was featured in May in The Wave. I would like to invite the members of the community who were unable to see the program because it was on a Friday, a work day, to attend this viewing about this forgotten piece of Rockaway history.
Not only will you learn the story of the flight, you will learn about the planes and the 18 courageous Navy aviators who left Rockaway and went into the danger zone of the wild Atlantic skies in 1919, ninety years ago, to become the first across the Atlantic. You will also be able to view a scale model of the plane that was the first plane to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
Another showing will be held on Sunday, August 16 at 12:00 noon.
