Kathy Griffin is an Emmy Awardwinning stand-up comedian. She is also a producer, actress and gay icon. Kathy is best known for her role on NBC's Suddenly Susan, her reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the DList, and for guest co-hosting on The View. She has also been a voice actress and a red carpet commentator.
Kathy's sense of humor is very biting and unforgiving. She is sometimes the object of her own humor, but she also often mocks other celebrities. Her favorite celebrity topics are plastic surgery, Scientology, drunkenness, substance abuse, snooty attitudes, eating disorders, and stars whose sexual orientation is disputed. Regardless of mocking other celebrities, or perhaps because of it, Kathy was placed 17th on Oxygen's 2007 list of "The 50 Funniest Women Alive."
Kathy has yearly performed a number of very successful stand-up specials for Bravo. They include "Kathy Griffin...Is Not Nicole Kidman," "Strong Black Woman," "Allegedly," "Everybody Can Suck It," "Straight to Hell" and "She'll Cut a Bitch."
On June 17, 2008 Kathy released a comedy CD titled For Your Consideration, which was recorded during her third show in St. Louis, Missouri on February 10, 2008. It is Kathy's first audio-only release of her stand-up material and it includes her takes on various celebrities and her personal life.
On June 8, 2009 Kathy's fifth season of My Life on the D-List aired. She is also expected to release a book called Official Book Club Selection soon. The book is Kathy Griffin unplugged, uncensored and unafraid to dish about what really happens on the road, away from the cameras and at the star party after the show. She also reveals intimate details about her life before and after she made the big time. In the book, Kathy opens up about everything from growing up with a dysfunctional family in suburban Illinois to bombing as a young comedian in L.A., from her well-publicized plastic surgery disasters to her highly publicized divorce, and more.
