Making Rockaway Its Own Borough

Dear Editor,

The Manhattan borough president has said that Queensborough Bridge is what attached Queens to Manhattan, making it the fifth borough. Unfortunately this has nothing to do with Rockaway, as we're part of Long Island and not a separate borough. But just imagine if Rockaway were its own borough, with its own elected officials, college, and courthouse (The one down by McDonald's would only take $1 million to restore as a courthouse and DMV.) What some of our elected officials are throwing away they could use to invest in Rockaway! Instead of a WMCA, a small four-year college right smack in the middle of Rockaway with Long Island University extensions would be great.

If you really think we can do this please bombard our senators with emails, calls and letters. It's never too late to get involved in your community and it will benefit future generations. Think of all the jobs that would be created, and what a great change it would be for the Rockaways.
