Louis C.K. is an Emmy Award- winning American stand-up comedian, writer, actor, producer, and director. Currently, Louis is set to appear in the upcoming films The Better Man, Diminished Capacity and Ricky Gervais' The Invention of Lying. He is best known for directing and writing the feature-length film Pootie Tang, starring a character he created for the Chris Rock Show. Louis co-wrote the Chris Rock films Down to Earth and I Think I Love My Wife. He won an Emmy for best writing in a variety or comedy series for his work on the Chris Rock Show in 1999.
Louis has both written for and performed stand-up on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Dana Carvey Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Chris Rock Show. He has also directed and written several short films and feature length movies. His first full-length feature film, Tomorrow Night, premiered at the Sundance Festival to rave reviews and was called "the best film of 2000" by the LA Times and Variety.
In 2005, Louis starred in a half-hour HBO special as part of the stand-up series One Night Stand. The following year, he began starring in the series Lucky Louie, which has been described as a bluntly realistic portrayal of family life. Lucky Louie was an enjoyably entertaining HBO sitcom that was filmed in front of a live audience. In 2007, Louis starred in his own hour-long HBO special titled Shameless. He is also a frequent guest on Opie and Anthony's radio show and was part of Opie and Anthony's Traveling Virus Comedy Tour with other comedians. On March 1, 2008, Louis recorded his most recent stand up special Chewed Up that premiered on Showtime October 4, 2008.
