PS/MS 105Q Donate To Local Food Pantry

Louis Coppin and Mrs. Hatty answered questions from the Roundtable pertaining to the Penny Harvest. Louis Coppin and Mrs. Hatty answered questions from the Roundtable pertaining to the Penny Harvest. After harvesting pennies through the Common Cents Program, PS/MS 105Q exceeded their goal of 25 sacks of pennies. This entitled them to receive a grant from the Penny Harvest Organization for $1,000. The next phase for the PS/MS Philanthropists was to decide which local agency would receive this donation.

This year the need was great for many charities. With Penny Harvest Coordinator Helene Schneider and Thomas Krieger, the Student Government Facilitator, the PS/MS 105 Q Philanthropists decided to follow the lead of Penny Harvest with The Full Pantry Project. This project encouraged the roundtables to give 10 percent of their funds to a local food pantry. After meeting with Louis Coppin and Mrs. Hatty, who run the food bank at the Solid Rock SDA Church, the students realized the need was great in our community. After this meeting, the students decided to give the full $1,000 check to the Solid Rock Church. Everyone felt great about this decision and hopes to continue to work with Coppin and Mrs. Hatty in the future.
