Children's Garden Sprouts at First Congregational

The young people of First Congregational Church are helping to create a children's garden in the rear of the church property at 320 Beach 94 Street in Rockaway Beach. On a beautiful and safely fenced portion of grass, a large group of gardening enthusiasts has pitched in to help the children and teens plant sunflowers, lilies and other seeds and plants donated by church members and supporters in the community. A worm composting project is also planned. Rebekkah Thompson and Kelly Sessoms-Newton, pictured with their families and church volunteers, are spearheading the project. Contact the church by calling 718-634-4701 or emailing firstcongregational @earthlink.net, if you have any plants, seeds, gardening tools, or gardening supplies you would like to donate.
