Managed Care Assistance Now Available In Neponsit

To better serve the western end of the peninsula, the managed care specialist of the Jewish Community Council of the Rockaway Peninsula (JCCRP), Kathy Rosenberg, will be stationed at the West End Temple, 147-02 Newport Avenue, Neponsit, on the first and third Fridays of each month, starting June 19, from 10 a.m. - noon. She will assist people who need advice or have an issue concerning their medical managed care insurance. Her second visit will take place on July 17, since July 3 is a holiday.

The JCCRP is one of about 25 organizations in the city that operate the Managed Care Consumer Assistance Program (MCCAP) under subcontractor to the Community Services Society of NY and specifically serves the Rockaways and Broad Channel. The program is funded by the City's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene with an additional allocation from the NYS Office for the Aging specifically for senior citizens who require assistance concerning their Medicaid Part D insurance. Anyone who lives in NYC is eligible.

According to the CSSNY website the MCCAP "can help guide you through the health care system—with information, advice, and advocacy on all types of health insurance. The NYC MCCAP offers many services — from finding the right health coverage, doctors, and specialists, to resolving bill problems, and questioning or appealing treatment decisions by health plan managers."

Kathy Rosenberg, can be reached at 718-327-7755 x 19 or krosenberg@jccrp.org.
