Joe Braskey, a coach with the Rockaway United Football Club, was interested in hosting a soccer camp which would invite any player throughout the Rockaways to attend.
Braskey, along with his fellow coaches John Dipaolo, Brian Baldwin and Anthony Dicarlo, was looking to involve more kids to join the fledgling RUFC program.
In speaking to the Red Bulls, he agreed that the MLS team would organize a camp which will significantly improve any player's technical and tactical skills.
"I stumbled onto their website online. I spoke to Adrian Moses [the Red Bulls manager of training programs] and went to a game at the Meadowlands and we did the contract," Braskey said.
"I think it's going to be a great learning experience for kids who want to play high quality soccer."
The Red Bulls conduct a youth academy program that develops young soccer players and participate in competitions throughout the country and some parts of the world.
Registration is $225. Campers will receive plenty of time with instructors as the camp goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. Lunch is provided every day and all campers receive an Adidas ball, t-shirt and a player evaluation.
