Juanita Segars, 75, a longtime Rockaway resident, died May 26.
Segars was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 29, 1933.
Segar is preceded in death by her sons, Lonnie, Carl and Yancie; sisters, Rosetta, Lucille, Helen and Mamie Lee; brothers, Gary, Clavon, Curtis, Robert and David and one grandson, Cory Albritton.
She is survived by her son, Ardie (Algenita) Segars, Jr.; sisters, Blanche Grant and Ealer Jordan; granddaughter she raised, Juanita (Patrick) Mendez; granddaughters, Michelle Burris, Katherine Burris, Petina and Summer; Jacquelyn and Christina Segars; grandsons, Michael, Sherrod (Veronica) Segars and Duane Baity; nieces who diligently cared for her, Sylvia (Ed) Jackson and Loretta (Michael) Vaughan; fourteen greatgrandchildren and other beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Disposition was at St. Michael's Crematory, East Elmhurst, New York.
