Public Art Sculpture At Beach 30 Street

For the past few months, artist Ethan Long has been working on one of Rockaway's first public art installations along the waterfront of Beach 30th Street. The sculpture built of compacted dirt has been under construction for the past month and Ethan has been meeting with local students and residents during the process to explain the project and discuss his background in public art.

The official unveiling of Ethan Long's DDP 2.0 (Digital Dirt Processor) Earth Art Sculpture will be held Saturday, June 6, 5-8 p.m. at the beach at Beach 30 Street. The sculpture is the first of its kind and will remain up along the public waterfront until the end of October. Light food and refreshments will be available and the artist will answer questions about the work.

This sculpture was made possible through a grant from the Queens Council for the Arts with the support of the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation.
