A fire at Rockaway's smallest public housing unit claimed the life of a woman and critically injured her disabled daughter, officials say. Published reports say that Lorna Whyms, 54, was declared dead at the scene. Her disabled daughter, Erica Whyms, 18, remains in critical condition at The Weill Cornell burn center with burns to much of her torso. More...
