Beach 116 Street Beach Balls

Dear Editor,

Finally somebody has the beachballs to take on the drugs and other illicit activities buzzing around the out of date and really not needed hotels on Beach 116! What I can't understand it how this goes on for so long and still continues. Our politicians and enforcement agencies can't possibly miss the action over there. I mean you can't miss a crackhead stumbling all over the place especially when one comes right up to your face for money! But with all the chatter about rezoning and rebuilding and making Rockaway Park a better place to come to nothing's being done to help the legitimate businesses survive along the strip!

I try to do as much of my shopping and support the businesses on Beach 116 as I can. But like Mr. Tiradelli pointed out I don't feel comfortable about being there with any amount of money in my pocket. I don't even like using an ATM on the beach block because of what comes and goes in and out of especially the Rockaway Park Hotel.

Lately I tell friends coming into Rockaway for the beach to stay clear and go to Riis Park. It's crowded over there but believe it or not we all feel safer. And we can take the Q35 bus and avoid coming into Beach 116 totally.

Let's see now that this thing is in the open if anybody will do anything to set the place in order. I didn't like the idea of eight story buildings but if it means no hotels,GREAT!
