St. John's Episcopal Hospital celebrated National Nurses Week, which falls on Florence Nightingale's birthday, May 6, 2009, through May 13, 2009. Nurses at the Hospital began the week with a "blessing of the hands" ceremony hosted by the Pastoral Care Department on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, in the Lobby. Pre-kindergarten, first-grade and second-grade students from PS 43 drew pictures of nurses to commemorate the week and thank the Hospital's nurses for their dedication to their vocation. The Hospital displayed the hand-drawn pictures in the lobby.
