Councilman Vincent Gentile, head of the library committee for the City Council, recently held an essay contest entitled "WOW My Library Rocks Because" through his District. Students from Visitation Academy participated and won 1st place Elementary School - Taylow Jazrawi, 2nd place intermediate grade Gabrielle Messina, 1st place 6th grade Ashley Kelly, 3rd place 6th grade Josette Tugander and Honorable Mention 7th grade was awarded to Nikki Knowles. Presentations were made to the juniors and seniors by Dominican and Congregation of Notre Dame Sisters, Holy Cross and Franciscan Brothers. Father Kevin Abels of the Diocesan Vocation Office moderated the day's program. Father Kevin is pictured in the top row, second left. The event was coordinated by the Campus Minister of Bishop Ford, Brother Thomas Barton, OSF, who is pictured on the bottom row, far left. More ... PS/MS 105, The Bay School, recently held its annual Math, Science and Technology Fair at the school. More that 300 experiments and projects, completed by students ranging from pre-kindergarten to grade 8, were presented at the three-day event. Many parents also came to see the students' work, said the fair coordinator and science teacher, Mr. Goldberg. More ... The annual event of the Mother Daughter Brunch took place in May at the Dyker Beach Golf Course. Over three hundred family and friends attended the celebration. The brunch was delicious and the little girls danced all afternoon and did an art and crafts project. More ... Students at PS/MS 105 in Edgemere have been collecting Tropicana Orange Juice containers in order to help purchase, preserve and protect endangered rainforest areas in the Amazon Jungle in Peru. So far, the students at The Bay School have saved more than 20,000 square feet of rainforest. More ... |
