Muré Honored By United Hospital Fund
Joseph Muré, Jr., Esq., was one of 39 trustees from metropolitan area hospitals honored at a luncheon on May 8, 2009 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The honorees were recognized for their leadership, generosity and extraordinary service to non-for-profit and municipal hospitals in New York City and nearby communities. The theme of this year's event was "Saluting exemplary service and recognizing groundbreaking partnerships improving quality and patient safety" and the trustees were nominated by their respective institutions. Fund President James R. Tallon, Jr. spoke about the honorees, saying, "Often, voluntary leaders are in a unique position to bring specialized knowledge and expertise to the table, to be sensitive to community needs and to focus attention on specific issues and concerns from a different perspective. The leaders recognized on May 8, 2009 are among the region's best at guiding their institutions when help has been needed most."
Muré has been an active member of the Board of Directors of Peninsula Hospital Center since March 2005. He has played a critical role in the expansion of the Pediatric Diabetes services at the Hospital Center and his involvement led directly to the addition of a pediatric endocrinologist to the Hospital Center's staff.
"It was Peninsula Hospital Center's honor to nominate Joe Muré for this honor," said Joel A. Miele Sr., P.E., Chairman of the Board. "He is a very valuable member of our Board of Directors and remains focused on expanding the diabetes programs and services at the Hospital Center so that all children can benefit from excellent diabetic care - close to home. His outstanding commitment makes this a most appropriate honor."
