Coney Island Is Alive and Well
Regarding Ed "Shevy" Shevlin's piece in this week's paper... Shevy, you prove you are as big a knucklehead as ever, spreading misinformation as usual!
Coney Island is in fact open for business, with not one but two freakshows! The Coney Island Circus sideshow is now open weekends, and starting Memorial Day, it will be open Wednesday-Sunday. While it's true Insectsvora is gone, they have one of the best cast lineups to date with Heather Holiday, Serpentina, Donny Vomit, Scott Baker, the Black Scorpion and special guests including London's sealboy Mat Fraser, the Lizardman, and Jackie the Human Tripod.
Burlesque at the Beach kicks off May 8 with Cowgirlesque, and every Friday at 10 p.m. brings a new show. The Great Fredini's This or That! burlesque game show will be held the last Friday of every month starting May 29. Thursday night shows start in June and continue throughout the summer. Check www.ConeyIsland. com for more info.
Rides are open and Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus are putting on their first tent show in 30 years in Coney all summer!
So next time check your facts- Coney Island is alive and well!
