Wright began performing stand up in 1982 and released his first comedy album three years later titled "I Have APony." The album received critical acclaim and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. In 1989, he won an Academy Award for his short film The Appointments of Dennis Jennings.

Wright has since released several comedy specials on DVD and has appeared in many films including Desperately Seeking Susan, So I Married An Axe Murderer, and Half Baked.

In December 2008, Steven was honored as the first inductee into the Boston Comedy Hall of Fame. Steven can be seen regularly as a guest with Letterman, Conan O'Brien and Craig Ferguson.

This June, Steven's 1985 groundbreaking "I Have A Pony" will be rereleased by Warner Bros Records. Steven's second CD, "I Still Have APony," earned him a 2008 Grammy nomination and his most recent hour Comedy Central special, "When The Leaves Blow Away," is available now on DVD.
