Beach Channel HS Participates In March Of Dimes
The Leadership class at Beach Channel High School participated in the March of Dimes this past Sunday, April 26 at Lincoln Center. Joelle Grossberg, Kelly Baierlein, and Stephanie Figueroa were the team captains. The captains created a bulletin board in the school to create awareness for the March of Dimes and sold paper booties and sneakers for the charity.
More than a thousand people showed up for the three-mile walk. The walkers received shirts, water, bags, snacks, bears and beads. Even those who did not walk showed their support for the walkers by cheering on the team as they passed by.
Eli Manning was the celebrity sponsor for the walk. He spoke to the teams prior to the walk and he was joined on the stage by children who were born premature.
The team donated $75 to the March of Dimes to help premature babies and to find a cure that will one day enable all babies to be born healthy. Seventy seven percent of all donations go straight towards research. All participants were very happy to contribute in their own way.
