Local 79 Mason Tenders Union is accepting applications for their apprenticeship program. The program is open to everyone over 18 with a high school diploma or GED. You must be able to lift 50 to 75 pounds. The program leads to full time jobs in the construction industry. Pay is $19.25 an hour during training.

Applicants are invited to meet with Program Director Timothy Warrington and his assistant Wendy Webb on Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Good Government Regular Democratic Club, 112-20 Beach Channel Drive (opposite Waldbaum's).

Democratic District Leader Lew M. Simon said that persons who attended a similar meeting last year now have union construction jobs.
