Plans to organize spoken word events at the next ARTSPLASH multimedia arts festival in the fall of 2009 will be discussed. Perhaps these may even include performance(s) of a play written by writers group members, as occurred at a previous meeting.
Special exhibition at RAA:
"Learning from Nature: A Student Exhibition." Location: RAA's sTudio 7 On view: May 31- June 15. Opening reception: Sunday, May 31 from 1-3 p.m., featuring live music.
Nature has been and continues to be a captivating subject. For many artists, it is the power, beauty, elegance and frailty of nature that inspires creativity. During this past academic year, nature has been the focus and theme for the Visual Arts Enrichment class at Scholars' Academy. The work featured in the exhibit is by seventh and eighth graders from the Scholars' Academy.
LIC Artists Open Studios: Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, 1 - 6 p.m.

"The Color of Hope" is BWAC's 17th Annual Spring Art Show at the Pier. On display will be 1600 new works by more than 300 BWAC members expressing their interpretations of hope. The opening weekend festivities include a Meet the Artists reception on Saturday with music by The Loose Marbles, a traditional New Orleans street band, at 3 p.m. The celebration continues on Sunday with jazz guitarist Ron Jackson. RAA members, who include Renee Radenberg and Christian Le Gars, are participating in "The Color of Hope," which is on view from May 19 - June 14, weekends only, 1-6 p.m. at 499 Van Brunt Street.
