Maxine Elizabeth Armstead

Community Assistant

Maxine Elizabeth Armstead, 45, a longtime Rockaway resident, died April 26.

Armstead was born on December 23, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York and worked as a community assistant at Ocean Bay Community Center.

Armstead is preceded in death by her grandmother, Phoebe Armstead and brother, Gregory Freeman.

She is survived by her daughters, Inessia I. Stanley, Ikevia M Armstead and Itavia D. Clark; father, John L. Freeman; stepmother, Valerie Bennerson; aunt, Sharon Clark ; three sisters, Yvonne Macklin, Belinda Armstead and Cynthia Freeman; two brothers, Tyrone Armstead, and Gerald Freeman; sister-in-law, Cosette Armstead; brother-in-law, Ervin Macklin; uncle, Richard Armstead aka Uncle Sonny; nephews, Lamel Perez, Namel Brown and Tyrone Armstead aka TJ; nieces, Shanton and Nyeshia Armstead; great-nephew, Nore Ward; great-nieces, Jamiya Ward, Janea Morris and Aaliyah Bailey; godson, Virgil Johnson aka Guy goddaughter, Nylah Bradley; best friend, Michele Stanley aka Shelly and a host of cousins, friends and children in the community who loved her dearly.

Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Interment was at St. Michael's Crematory, East Elmhurst, New York.
