I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the ARF-ARF members (Zina Skachinsky, Susan Jasper, Keren and Michael Feuer, Frannie McFadden) and other park goers (Johnathan, Justin and Madaline) who came out to Freeway Dog Park on Saturday, April 25, 2009 for our "Clean Up Our Park Day." Many thanks also go to Jill Weber, Leroy Temple and their people at the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation for their supplies of garbage bags, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrow and the huge mound of soil. Zina brought extra supplies and refreshments. Everybody pitched in, we got all the scattered debris picked up and filled in the holes dug out by the dogs. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done.
I would like to give a very special thank you to Johnathan Molloy who worked extra hard pushing the wheelbarrow filled with soil and filling in the holes.
I would also like to remind all the park goers to make sure they pick up after their dogs and to please fill in any holes they may have dug up while playing. Remember, keeping our park clean is an ongoing effort and we all need to pitch in.
I'd also like to mention our upcoming event on Saturday, May 23, 2009, the 3rd annual "It's My Bark Day." The ASPCA will be on hand for low cost spaying/neutering, the Mayor's Alliance will be there micro-chipping and North Shore Animal League will come with their adoptions van. There will be contests, games and prizes. If you plan to have your dog spayed or neutered make sure you get there extra early as the line usually starts forming at about 5:30 a.m.
