Rockapulco Historical Bike Tour May 16

The bike tours sponsored by RWA have become more and more popular over the past two years. At last October's Second Annual Fall Bike Tour, tour leader Vivian Carter (center) displayed historical photos from The Wave's 100th Anniversary Edition to participants Emilia Crotty (left) and Janet Fash (right). At last October's Second Annual Fall Bike Tour, tour leader Vivian Carter (center) displayed historical photos from The Wave's 100th Anniversary Edition to participants Emilia Crotty (left) and Janet Fash (right). The Rockaway Waterfront Alliance will, once again, sponsor the "Rockapulco Historical Bike Tour" on Saturday, May 16. The ride begins at 11 a.m. at Beach 9 Street and the boardwalk, and ends at 2 p.m. at Jacob Riis Park. Tour leader is Wave columnist Vivian Carter. The distance is 14 miles at an easy pace on the boardwalk. This allows for stops along the way at historic landmarks, and display of vintage photographs of Rockaway, at the many sites where landmarks are no longer intact, or are distant from the boardwalk. A suggested donation of $15 is requested. Riders may register by visiting RWA's website at www. rwalliance.org, and clicking on events, or by calling 718-327-5919.
