Livery Cab Driver Bashed And Slashed Perp Used Bat, Knife, Gun

By Howard Schwach

Police say that the driver of a livery cab was assaulted at Beach 74 Street and Shore Front Parkway at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25.

Police officers from the 100 Precinct, responding to a call of a male stabbed, found Ernzie Snipes, 26, of Jamaica sitting in his Ford van with a slash wound to his upper right arm.

Snipes said that he was approached by an unknown male who slammed the van's window with a baseball bat, shattering the window and spilling glass all over the driver.

The perpetrator then pulled a handgun on Snipes and then took a knife and slashed him.

It was unclear whether or not the knife-wielding man demanded anything of Snipes, but one local source said that he demanded the driver's money.

Snipes was transported by EMS ambulance to the Peninsula Hospital Center, where he was treated and released.

Detectives from the 100 Precinct detective squad are investigating.

Anybody with information on the crime should call the detectives at 718-318-4221.
